What is “Live Resin”?
‘Live Resin’ is a specific type of cannabis extract whereby fresh cannabis flowers (i.e., buds not yet dried and cured) are harvested at their apex of maturity, cryogenically flash frozen under very cold temperatures and then used as the extraction material in the manufacturing process of that extract. The process of manufacturing Live Resin is an effort to retain as much of the fresh terpenes and cannabinoids from the cannabis and capture them in the final product to provide a more complete and intense terpene and cannabinoid experience.

Type: Indica-dominant Hybrid (approximately 60%/40%)

Genotype:  707 Headband  OG Kush  X  Sour Diesel

The exact original lineage for 707 Headband is debated, though most believe it’s some version of OG Kush crossed with Sour D. Many also claim this strain was originally developed by The Breeder’s Lab and is a cross between NYC Diesel, OG Kush and Master Kush.

DNA Genetics bred a version of 707 they claim uses the original genetics. The name is derived from an area code from the San Francisco Bay Area of California (i.e., 707), which is where this strain first gained notice. And “headband” is a direct reference to the initial effects this strain can have on its users.

This dark mustard colored sample was very fresh (made a few weeks prior). It may look liquid-like or runny in the photo, but it was just super fresh. I would describe the consistency to be like baby food, and it was a little sticky.

Terpene Profile:
Alpha-Bisabolol 0.1388%; Beta-Caryophyllene 0.5573%; p-Cymene 0.2228%; Guaiol 0.2231%; Alpha-Humulene 0.0898%; Limonene 0.7578%; Linalool 0.8330%; Beta-Myrcene 7.1151%; Nerolidol 0.8337%; Alpha-Pinene 0.0753%; Beta-Pinene 0.0807% (ACT Labs)

In its intact state, this live resin emitted light diesel, pine and sweet notes. When dabbed, the sweetness of the fuel really came to the forefront on my palate, which was a bit surprising since 707 doesn’t usually emphasize the sweet too much. Pine and earth notes followed. A very clean and tasty set of terps worthy of a live resin.  It's worth pointing out that there was an unusually high level of Beta-Myrcene in this sample.

Low temperature dabbing is mandatory to achieve the most flavorful experience with this live resin. Dabbing this live resin at high temps degrades the flavor significantly. To learn how you can use this terpenes data to better your health, see the Terpenes Library.

The effects were a potent, balanced body and mind experience that leaned a little to the body. It did have a heady start that 707 is known for expressing, but it’s a pleasant cerebral wave. Calms the body and mind. Can get a little trippy at higher doses. I often use it in lower doses as a functional daytime medicine.
