For this review, I’m going to break the 4th wall and tell you a real-life story as me – Mark Anderson, the person who created and maintains this website, not in the voice of Dick Downey the fictional cop.
When I hear the term “Dark Star” I think Grateful Dead®. It’s a classic Deadhead tune. In my teens and twenties I was best friends with several deadheads. I was more interested in punk and Indie bands but got sucked into going to several Dead shows in the mid-80s and early 90s.
It was June 25 & 26, 1993 at JFK Stadium in Washington, DC (Sting opened; Bruce Hornsby on accordion w/ Dead). I went with my best friend Todd, a thoroughly brainwashed Deadhead. Many strange and interesting things happened that weekend, but an encounter at The White House was not something I’d anticipated.
It was Saturday morning. Todd and I never left the parking lot from the night before. We decided to take a little stroll, then we hopped on the subway, and somehow ended up near the South Gate of The White House. A crowd was gathering and the Secret Service and DC cops were everywhere. I’ve got a bag weed down my shorts and, well, we had eaten some mushrooms before leaving and now they’re really starting to kick in. Todd wants to go right up to the gate, but I don’t want to go anywhere near the drug dogs and Secret Service so I decide to stay back a little as Todd makes his way to the curb of the drive that leads into the South Gate of The White House. He’s somewhat separated from the rest of the crowd near the actual gate itself and I’m standing back about 30 feet or so, watching.
Suddenly I hear sirens approaching; the crowd becomes much more animated and the Secret Service appears to be fixing their positions along the drive. I can see a motorcade fast approaching. I look over at Todd. He's standing there, apart from the rest of the crowd, in his filthy jean shorts and ripped tie dye t-shirt half-revealing one of his man-boobs with his disheveled, Ronald McDonald-like curly red hair. You couldn't miss the guy if you were blind, especially in a sea of well-dressed interns and security suits. Here comes the motorcade. Up front are a series of black SUVs followed by one of the president’s limos, then a few more SUVs, and lastly a second limo with the presidential seal. As the limo approaches the gate and Todd, the window rolls down and Bill Clinton sticks his head out and waves to Todd and acknowledges him with a hello. They were literally 4-5 feet away from each other. Then, Hillary pops her head out with Bill and she says hi to Todd, too. As they recede back into the car, I can see they’re both giggling. It all happened in about 3-4 seconds.
Todd comes running back to me like a little kid at Disney World who just met Mickey Mouse and says, “Did you SEE that?!” “Did you?!” “Man, I TOLD you Bill was a deadhead!” I’m laughing so hard I can’t catch my breath. The mushrooms were definitely kicking in.
There was a reason we encountered the President that day.

Physical Characteristics: This sample was a thick, opaque, medium-amber colored piece of shatter. As you can see from the pic, this sample consisted of little pieces and chunks that had all stuck together into one large piece.
TIP: When you get shatter in this form, you can just break a small piece off and gently press it between warm fingers and it will smooth out and you can flatten it into semi-opaque thinner pieces.
Terpene Experience: In its intact state, this sample emitted just a light pungency. When smoked, it tasted of sweet-pungency with some earth undertones, especially on the exhale.
TIP: To learn all about terpenes, see the Terpenes Library page.
Effects: Total. Body. Melt. This is one deep Indica stone that will mellow every cell in your body and make you feel like you are indeed floating in deep space. In higher doses I was actually able travel back in time, before conventional stars were formed, and hitch a ride on a dark star.
Duration of Effects: 3+ hours
May Help With: Helped with sleep, mood and post-operative pain. May also help with body pain, nerve pain, muscle pain and spasms, PTSD, anxiety, appetite, arthritic symptoms (and more).
High marks for this shatter’s outstanding purity & potency and wide-ranging medicinal potential. As with many shatters, the flavor was very subdued.

Dark star crashes, pouring its light into ashes.
And remember, the next time you turn around, turn around again. . .'cause I'll be there.
