NOTE: I liked the narrative I wrote for my review of GTI’s Durban Poison wax, so I’m reusing it here.
I bet you tokers didn’t know that the South African port city of Durban has been a Sister City of Chicago since 1997. You also don’t know that Durban was Officer Downey’s first international, deep cover assignment. Now you all do, so keep your pie holes shut!
I blended in with a Mayoral delegation as security for the Durban junket. My code name was odd. I mean it actually was ‘ODD’, my initials. My mission: Infiltrate the dealers and find the supplier. By day, I was crack security expert for the Mayor. By night, I was an international businessman and playboy looking for a little Durban Poison good time.
Our eyes met from across the room. I could tell the dame had class. I lured her away from her goons and we danced until dawn. I told her, “I don’t like to see cheap hoods messing with a sweet kid like you, Princess.” She leaned forward, crossed her gams and whispered, “No one plays me for a sucker and gets away with it.” I knew then there was more to this caper than I’d bargained for.
With my cover blown and a bunch of shaved apes on my trail looking to work me over, I barely made it out of there in one piece. My brains and her looks...we could have gone places. Maybe in another time, another place. But, when your head says one thing and your whole life says another, your head always loses.

Purchase Date: 10/01/2016
TIP: To learn how you can use this cannabinoids data to better your health, see the Cannabinoids Library page.
Characteristics: Light yellow colored wax in the form of ‘crumble’. A loose pile of very dry, brittle fine pieces and granules. This sample’s crumble form was difficult to pick up without a dabber tool with a scoop end, which is what I used.
TIP: You can pick up crumble with a straight-pointed dabber tool if you heat the tip. However, if the point is too hot, it will melt the crumble and you’ll be very bummed out.
Terpene Experience: In its intact state, this sample gave off notes of sweet hash. When dabbed, the familiar Durban sweet-hash, light fruit and pungency were very subdued. Flavor was lacking, even for a regular wax.
TIP: To learn about terpenes, see the Terpenes Library page.
Effects: With THC levels in the 90% range, the effects were a classic Durban power injection of 100% pure sativa. Provides great daytime clarity and energy. An effective mood enhancer and motivator without a big crash on the other side.
Duration of Effects: 2-3 hours
May Help With: Helped with mood and creative focus. May also help with fatigue, ADD, ADHD, depression, stress, bi-polar disorder, appetite, nausea, getting stuff done! (and more)
While the potency was more than adequate, this sample’s extremely dry crumble form made it a challenge to work with and the terps were a little underwhelming.

After all these years, Durban Poison, and that dame, have come back to haunt me in my dreams.
And remember, the next time you turn around, turn around again ...'cause I’ll be there.
