Officer Dick Downey's Pot Report
Your Illinois Cannabis Authority
Last Saturday night my partner Vinny and me start chasing a Chevy Malibu after it blows through a red light. Within a few blocks we’re right on top of it, lights blazing, but this perp shows no signs of yielding for us. Instead, this traffic stop turns into a 15-mile chase with at least a half-dozen other cruisers joining in.
We end up out in the burbs when finally the driver, who appears to be an elderly woman, takes a turn down a cul-de-sac with nowhere to go. Or, at least that’s what we all thought until she drove straight through the backyard of a house and directly into a retention pond.
Me and Vinny run out to the pond and wade into the freezing water to save this woman only to find her sitting inside, looking straight ahead, drinking a beer. She would not acknowledge us at all. So we get out of the pond and waited for the fire department as she continued to stay in the car and finish her beer.
Method of Extraction: Ethanol (i.e., ethyl alcohol)
Per the manufacturer - “Gold Leaf® RAW WAX is a pure cannabis concentrate made with our proprietary extraction method utilizing organic food grade ethanol. The final product contains a full terpene and cannabinoid profile and is very pure, potent and flavorful. Made from organically grown flower. Extracted from premium flower nugs not trim.”
NOTE: This is not a “winterization” process using ethanol. See this review for an explanation and example of an extract manufactured via winterization.
Form: Wax (Ataraxia’s RAW® Wax)
Type: Indica-dominant Hybrid (approx. 55%/45%)
Genotype: Gelato = Thin Mints Cookies X Sunset Sherbet
The original breeder is Cookie Fam Genetics. I’ve seen many cuts out there. I’m not sure which phenotype Ataraxia grows.
Thin Mints Cookies** = OG Kush X Durban Poison Sunset Sherbet = GSC X Pink Panties
**Thin Mints Cookies is not a genetic replica to Girl Scout Cookies (GSC) but it shares many observable traits.
TIP: For details about the Gelato flower, please see my review of it.

Characteristics: This sample consisted of a few pale gold colored slabs of wax. The consistency was very similar to a semi-hard candle wax with a somewhat brittle consistency when dabbed.
Terpene Profile: Beta-Caryophyllene 0.2729%; Alpha-Humulene 0.0989%; Limonene 0.2317%; Linalool 0.0776%; Beta-Myrcene 0.1926%; Alpha-Pinene 0.0426%; Beta-Pinene 0.0607% (ACT Labs)
IMPORTANT: The terpene levels listed above are for the Gelato flower and NOT for this specific extract. I'm providing this information to show the terpenes for the strain used to make this wax.
TIP: To learn how you can use this terpenes data to better your health, see the Terpenes Library page.
In its intact state, this sample emitted aromas of pungent sweetness. This flower is known for its orange sherbet terps, and I could also detect those notes. When dabbed, this wax tasted of pungent, sweet orange sherbet with notes of pine and tangerine, especially on the exhale.
Effects: The same powerfully euphoric effects as the flower but more intense. As with the bud, the journey also starts in the mind and is soon joined by the body in tandem euphoria. Gelato is at once refreshing and relaxing, but I would caution having patience, too. This one can really creep up on you, so take your time between dabs. The ride can get a little spacey at high doses, too, but not in a bad way. I consider this strain (and this wax) an excellent medical herb for its wide-ranging medical potential.
Duration of Effects: 2-4+ hours, depending on dosage
May Help With: Helped with stress, mild cervical nerve pain and nausea. May also help with mood, anxiety, depression, PTSD, some forms of muscle spasms or pain, some forms of body pain and nerve pain, appetite, headaches (and more)
This sample offered outstanding purity and medical potency, along with an excellent terpene experience.

And remember, the next time you turn around, turn around again... 'cause I'll be there.
