StarDawg Guava: Gameplay

product photo. An eye level shot of mid and dark green buds with lots of orange and brown hairs throughout, large calyx structure with decent trichome development. A few unfilled cone joints are in the immediate background.

A couple of nights ago I’m just finishing up my last call and I’m walking back to my car parked on the street when this mouth breather side-swipes my cruiser with his battery-operated foreign crapmobile.

Surprisingly, the moron didn’t flee. The guy gets out of his car and says, “That’s what I get for playin this stupid-a** game.” Did I just hear that right? So I ask the punk what he’s talking about and he tells me he was looking down at his phone while playing Pokemon Go®.

There was an upside, though. This man-boy millennial who likes to chase fake little creatures around in his phone was as high as Keith Richards is sober, which is pretty damn high. Words can’t describe the pleasure I took in cuffing this perp with possession of the devil’s vine.

Type: Sativa-Dominant Hybrid (Typically, 60%/40% ratio)

StarDawg Guava  = Chem Dawg 4  X  Tres Dawg

This strain is a ChemDawg phenotype. Sometimes it is referred to as a sister of Star Dawg. It is a Sativa Cannabis Cup winning strain. Some have speculated that the ‘star’ in the name was inspired by its twinkling trichomes.

ChemDawg 4 (aka Chem 4) = ChemDawg X Unknown Strain

TresDawg (aka Violet) = ChemDawg X Double Dawg                Double Dawg = ChemDawg X Afghani #1

Phenotype Profile: This sample consisted of mid and dark green buds with lots of orange and brown hairs throughout, large calyx structure with decent trichome development. While the physical characteristics were representative of this strain, this batch was on the dryer end of the spectrum.
              Bud Density: 4  [1 – 5]

Terpene Profile: The intact buds for StarDawg Guava should emit powerful fuel, chemical, sour and pine aromas with light sweet notes. Some people smell a strong cheese odor and more fuel, while other pick up fruity notes. StarDawg Guava typically offers a very complex aromatic profile. The odors for this batch were somewhat lighter and less complex than with a fresher batch. The buds smelled primarily of fuel and pungent pine. When ground, the smell of fuel and pine with pungent notes took over and a little more complexity came through with some sweet notes.

As with the aromas, the flavors of StarDawg Guava should also be intense and complex, expressing a range that typically includes lemon, sour, pine, chem/fuel and sweet notes. Because this batch was a bit dry, the smoke was a little on the harsh side for this strain, tasting mostly of mild earth and fuel with a slight sweetness on the exhale.

TIP: To learn all about terpenes, see the Terpenes Library page.

Effects: The effects were on point - mostly cerebral, powerful, uplifting and fast-acting. A good strain for daytime use to be productive, though heavy dosage can dampen the energy boost and lead to some spaciness.

Duration of Effects: 1.5-2+ hours, depending on dosage

May Help With: mood, focus, productivity, fatigue, stress, some forms of pain (and more)

This is a complex and wonderful strain for those who love the Dawg family. This batch was a on the dry side and low in potency for this strain so some of its strong points were a muted. That said, this flower has the potential to really shine.
